SABC 3’s New LineUp lines up Audiences

 

It all started with “The Stage Is Yours “repositioning that reaffirmed SABC3 as a channel that shines the spotlight on the aspirations of its audiences and represents the progressive spirit of the nation. True to its new lineup promise of local content that is relevant, cutting edge, compelling, laced with compelling international content, SABC 3 delivered the all-new Mzansi Super League (MSL T20) and The Premier League to an overwhelming audience response.

As the saying goes, ‘numbers don’t lie,’ according to Transit programmes, SABC 3 experienced a massive 70% audience increase during The Premier League 2018/19 season, which ends 13 May 2019. The increase attracted new audiences to the channel who enjoy a perfect mix of the new and the old, local and International shows.

The Mzansi Super League (MSL) emphatically announced itself when it attracted a live TV audience of more than 3.4 million viewers from the four T20 matches played over the opening weekend. Numbers kept on swelling attracting audiences who have since made SABC3 their home.

The Sports Audience Analysis carried out independently by Nielsen Sport revealed that a unique audience of 3, 418. 594 viewed the four opening matches. The top figure of 1 665 546 unique viewers was recorded for the Saturday night fixture between the Jozi Stars and Nelson Mandela Bay Giants with all four matches going beyond the 1.3 million mark.

A pool of exciting new and old – local and international shows that have managed to keep the audience ratings climbing since the launch of the new line-up: #WTFTumi, Wednesday and Thursday @ 21:30 – 22:30, This one hour show has an average of 295, 410 viewers, claiming 20% of the market share. The show features celebrity interviews, exciting interactive games between guests and the studio audience. The format of the show is designed to wrap up the South African day with a consolidation of what the nation is currently talking about while getting to know its amazing stars at the same time.

TopBilling, Thursday @ 20:30 – 21:30 &Sunday @ 13:00-14:00, averages 319,002 viewers, accounting for 21.6% of the market share. One of SABC 3‘s flagship programme and seen by many as a “homecoming,” Top Billing is the longest-running entertainment and lifestyle television programme in South Africa. The show is targeted at successful South Africans, proud of their country and their heritage, who aspire to and who do lead the good life via their achievements.

TrendingSA, Thursday and Tuesday @ 21:30 – 22:30, this live-to-air 48-minute daily talk show averages 332,671 viewers that translates into 22.5% of the market share. The show is a discussion between the witty personalities about trending hashtags of the day.  The co-hosts will spark conversation and also bring guests in to delve deeper into issues that are trending on social media.

Expresso, Monday – Friday @ 06:00 to 09:00, “Wake up to a feel-good morning,” with SABC 3’s daily morning lifestyle show celebrating South African heritage and achievements and inspiring the community to live their best life. Expresso has an average of 177, 705 viewers, accounting for 12%  of the market share.

Viewers will never have a dull moment with all the great entertainment on offer.
